Company Logo Design Creation Tips

Despite the fact that every logo designer has a different method, but most professionals will agree that there are a few steps and processes for creating a Company Logo Design that they all share.

“As a general rule, Every company needs a combination of brand identity, strategic thinking, and uniqueness in their Logo Design”.

Before describing the logo design process step by step I think it is very important to know what features make the logo good.

What Makes a Good Logo?

Every designer will give you different definitions of what makes a good logo but basically, there are three fundamental principles of logo design.

It is Appropriate: Appropriate means relevancy. The logo should directly connect to their industry. For example, if you are designing for a fashion brand then the logo should be elegant, but if you are designing for a sports brand then the design probably needs to be bold and dynamic.

It is Simple: Simple means a logo should be based on a single story because in most cases the logo is based on multiple purposes and it is uncomplicated so it can’t work effectively and flexibly in wide ranges.

It is Memorable: The challenging part is making the logo of that type it will be simple and memorable for everyone.

So in this article, I am showing you the step-by-step company logo design process.

5-Step Logo Design Process

Discover—Gain Knowledge about Clients’ Business.

Research—Find out the mistakes of competitors and learn about the industry.

Brainstorm—Decide design direction and develop the idea.

Sketch—First Create logo concept and strategy.

Design—Select the best logo style and execute them digitally

Discover—Gain Knowledge about Client’s Business

Obviously, every designer takes a slightly different methodology, but it seems that everyone agrees that running a discovery stage and emerging some genus of brand strategy is a requirement.

“Discovering the client’s business means exploring its history, the industry it operates in, its competitors, and the audience that it serves”.

The reason is that designing is not just an art. We shouldn’t just start generating logo thoughts out of tinny air-based honorably on our appealing sense.

First, you should brief the client and lay the foundation for your creative exploration before opening Illustrator and playing with color, type, and shape.

Research—Find out mistakes from Competitors and Learn about the industry

The information from the discovery phase is used to conduct further research to gain insights that will be helpful during the ideation phase.

“The procedure of investigation involves studying the industry in more detail, accompanying pictorial research, and illustration deductions”.

As a designer research industry will help you to get a sense of the environment in which the logo will be staying.

During this phase, you ensure that you will be able to effectively provide solutions to the clients by learning more about their field.

Brainstorm—Decide design direction and develop an idea

Brainstorm will have appeared on detection and investigation. In this stage, I start delineating my strategy for generating logo ideas.

“Brainstorming is all about thinking about all the possibilities of design that will give the right direction to the logo”.

In this scenario, I would like to find a look or style that would convey the brand personality of my client.

I use brand personality and voice tone. It is the best exercise that helps me brainstorm ideas and creates mood boards.

Sketch—First Create logo concept and strategy

It is the best option to find out the concept and strategy for the best logo.

“Sketching is a way of finding, an investigation that attaches an idea to its countenance”.

Most of the designers do sketches before creating a logo while others start right away on the computer, but most of the professional company logo designers sketch by using pen or pencil.

Another important decision is whether we need a symbol or a highly memorable typographic treatment of the trademark name (wordmark).

Sketch consumes time but when your conscious mind is not working then your unconscious mind comes up with some great ideas. That is the reason why I always acclaim the designer to bring something that you can sketch on.

Design—Select the best logo style and execute them digitally

Once you have a lot of sketches, you can evaluate each against the approach and select the most promising and powerful concepts to accomplish digitally.

“As part of the design process, you must translate your drawing into digital form and then check their viability”.

Do not execute every single logo idea that you have.

Just only focus on deserving concept logos that you think can work effectively for your client.

If you feel like your sketches are weak and your concept is not compatible in the market you can go back and forth between designing and sketching until you come up with some pretty thrilling logo concepts.

Conclusion:

Logos that are memorable and successful are not created by accident-they are thought out strategically, explored, failed, and redesigned. So if you are following these designing steps I make sure that you design a powerful, thoughtful and Attractive Logo Design. Because a perfect logo needs strong thought and creativity.
